It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joseph Henry Ording, October 28, 2024.

He was born June 15, 1934, in Trotwood, Ohio.  Joe was raised in Newport, Ohio and graduated from Houston High school.  He then studied at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio and received his radiology certification. He served in the U.S. Army as an x-ray technician.

Joe has had many professions over the years. He eventually settled in Troy and worked with his father and brother at Ording's Garden and Fruit Market. In 1961, he opened Ording's Party Time and turned it into a reigning pizza/deli establishment.  Fishing was his passion from childhood.  He fished the lakes and ponds around his hometown and eventually fell in love fishing for walleye in Lake Erie.  He decided to become a licensed charter captain in 1984 and started Party Time lll and lV Charter Services.  After 36 years of being a walleye hunter and 57 years in the pizza/deli/catering business, Joe officially retired in 2018.

He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy.  He was also a member of the Troy Elks Lodge #833, Troy Moose Lodge #2695, Troy Fish and Game, American Legion Post #43, AmVets Post #88, VFW Post #5436, and Fraternal Order of Eagles #971.

Joe is survived and missed by his loving wife of 40 years: Penny; children: Jackie, Pete and Kristen; sister: Nancy.  His memory will be cherished by his stepson: Ron; daughter-in-law: Lisa; grandchildren: Donnie, Danielle, Mike, Brent, Nick, Braydon and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Herman and Clara; sister: Dolores; brother: Alton "Sonny".

Joe's passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember his life by the way he lived it and for the impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Monday, November 4, 2024, at Baird Funeral Home, Troy.  Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy.
