Obituary

Joseph E. Anderson, age 89, of Troy, Ohio; Formerly of Scituate, Mass. died Wednesday, July 2, 2008 in Troy. Born July 23, 1918 in Boston, Mass. to the late Vincent Anderson and Catherine Murray Anderson, he was married to Eleanor T. Bowler Anderson who preceded him in death in 1995. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-laws, Christine and Bruce Marshall of Northbridge, Mass and Pam and Brian Tompkins of Troy, OH; sister, Teresa Joseph of Norton, Mass; brothers and sister-in-law, Leo and Kathy Anderson of Tulsa, OK and Arthur Anderson; grandchildren, Matthew, Brianne and Brittany Tompkins and Nicholas and Megan Marshall. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, David and Paul, and sisters, Lillian and Meg. He was a WWII US Army Veteran; 1963-1964 State Commander and longtime member of the VFW, Scituate, Mass.; Past president of the Employees Club for Boston Edison; and former member of St. Marys of the Nativity Catholic Church, Scituate, Mass. He was an Assistant Division Head at Boston Edison Company, retiring in 1980. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00AM Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at St. Marys of the Nativity Catholic Church, Scituate, Mass. Interment to be held in St. Marys Cemetery, Scituate, Mass with Veterans Honor Guard services at the cemetery. Friends may call at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, OH from 2-5PM Sunday, July 6 and the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, Scituate, Mass. from 5-7 PM Tuesday, July 8.
