John E. Wildman Jr. John E. Wildman Jr., age 86, of Troy, Ohio, residing at SpringMeade, Tipp City, Ohio, passed away at 4:30AM on Thursday, June 12, 2008, at SpringMeade, Tipp City, Ohio. He was born May 25, 1922, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late John Edward Sr. and Estelle M. Mueller Wildman. His wife of 59 years, Pansy B. Buyer Wildman, survives. He is also survived by three daughters: Terry Thomas Selby of Lakewood, Ohio; CWO4 Jo N. Wildman of Memphis, Tennessee; and Stacy Paul Morris of Troy, Ohio; one sister, Ferne Leverne Therwanger of Chicago, Illinois; four grandchildren: T. Brian Heather Selby of Columbus, Ohio; Amy L. Selby of Lakewood, Ohio; Todd F. Morris of Troy; and Rachael A. Morris of Troy; two great-grandchildren: Andrew T. Selby and William O. Selby; also survived by nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Withrow High School, Cincinnati, Ohio; received B.S. in Music Education from the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music; and received his M.S. in Music Education from Miami University. Mr. Wildman did his Doctorate work in Oboe Performance at the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. He was a member of many clubs and associations, such as: National & Ohio Music Educators Association, Musicians Union, Piano Technicians Guild, Musicians Club of Troy; member and former treasurer of the Retired Teachers Association; Principle Oboist of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra for 44 years; member of the Miami Valley Woodwind Quartet; co-founder of the Evening of Strings and he was a member of the Troy Civic Band and played under Dr. Frank Simon. Mr. Wildman served in the Army Air Force as a Sergeant in the 595th Army Air Force Band. During WWII, he was stationed in Guam as a part of "Air Offensive Japan" and Las Vegas, New Mexico. He was a member of Troy Christian Church and was a music teacher in Brookville and Connersville, Indiana, Staunton and Concord Schools, Troy City Schools, and was the teacher of many private students. He was a piano tuner for many years, an instrument demonstrator in many schools and Ohio Judicator for Ohio Music Educators for many years. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the First United Church of Christ, Troy with the Rev. Chris Heiss and Rev. Harold L. Therwanger officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Troy, Ohio, with Veteran's Honor Guard at the graveside. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8PM on Monday at Baird Funeral Home, Troy.
