John E. Sphar, age 82, of Troy, Ohio died Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Koester Pavilion, Troy, Ohio. He was born April 15, 1928 in Troy, Ohio to the late Emerson and Ida Anderson Sphar. He married Betty J. Etherington Sphar, his wife of 63 years who survives. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Craig Schneider of Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, Beverly and Jon Westerling of Troy, Ohio and Janet Keyser of Versailles, Ohio; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Long of Troy and Helen and Herbert Butt of Troy, Ohio; six grandchildren and spouses, Cinda and Jay Alspaugh, Mark and Kelly Westerling, Erick Schneider, Andrea and Charlie Alfieri, Josh and Tracy Keyser, Jessica and Chris Austen; five great-great grandchildren, Kendra Westerling, Emery and Marly Alspaugh, Chase Alfieri and Jak Keyser. John retired in 1990 from Hobart Corporation in Troy. He was a member of the Hobart Quarter Century Club, UAW Local #128 and the Early Ford V8 Club. John enjoyed bowling, collecting key chains, and playing cards. Funeral service will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio with interment to follow in Miami Memorial Park in Covington, Ohio. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8pm from at the funeral home.
