John K. Smith John K. Smith, age 79, of Tipp City, Ohio, passed away at 4:45AM on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at the Sterling House, Troy, Ohio. He was born on May 26, 1929 in Jonancy, Kentucky to the late Sid and Lizzie Greer Smith. He was married to Margaret Ann Turner Smith, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Russell and sisters, Dean and Lou. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Traci Smith of Tipp City, Ohio, three grandchildren: Valerie, Kevin and Jaden and numerous nieces and nephews. He graduated from Morehead State University with a B.S. degree in education and received a Master's degree from Xavier University. He served in the US Army Military Police during the Korean War. Mr. Smith was employed with the Montgomery County Board of Education and after his retirement, was a residential business owner in Tipp City, Ohio. He spent many years throughout his life at auctions. He was always in search of old treasures and a good deal; he loved the art of the deal! Funeral services will take place at 2:00PM Monday, October 13, 2008 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with Daryl Fulp officiating. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City, Ohio, with Veteran's Honor Guard services at the graveside. Friends may call from 5-8PM Sunday at the funeral home.
