John Vincent (Skip) Pavlik died February 9, 2017 at his home in Troy, OH after a courageous battle with mesothelioma cancer. John was born October 8, 1944 in Los Angeles, CA to the late Helen Virginia Pavlik and John Frank Pavlik. He grew up in Shadyside, OH and graduated from Shadyside High School. John earned his B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering at Tri-State College in Angola, IN.
He worked for BF Goodrich designing brakes for the Boeing 757 and wheel and carbon brakes for the Boeing 777.
John married Nancy Gross on June 29, 1974. They enjoyed traveling, birding and playing cards with many friends and family. Nancy predeceased John in April 2004. But he held her in his heart for the rest of his life.
John loved to fly. He earned a commercial pilot's license as well as a private one. He also enjoyed playing golf, once shooting a hole-in-one.
John is survived by his sister: Nancy (Dave) Handel from Columbus, OH and his brother: David (Kathy) Pavlik from Massena, NY. He is also survived by his nephews: Chris (Brenda) Handel and Stephen (Alyssa) Handel; sister-in-law: Karen Smeal and his nieces: Kristi (Ed) Feldmann and Karri (Art) Hathaway as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Per John's wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral. The family would like to thank the Visiting Angels and Crossroads Hospice for their compassionate help in caring for John.
