John Joseph "Jack" Shanesy John Joseph "Jack" Shanesy, age 90, of Troy, Ohio went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 2:23AM on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at his residence. He was born on June 5, 1920 in Piqua, Ohio to the late John J. and Elvy Sherman Shanesy. His loving wife of 35 years, Carolyn E. Partin Shanesy, survives. He is also survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Stephen and Kit Shanesy of Wyoming, Ohio, Patrick and Marcia Shanesy of Waynesville, North Carolina and Brian Keith and Rhonda Shanesy of Jacksonville, Florida; two daughters and sons-in-law: Susan and Wiley Overley of Elburn, Illinois and Sally and Pete Simonis of Troy; one stepson and daughter-in-law, James L. and Carol Fryman of Casstown, Ohio; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, John Scott Shanesy; one brother, Thomas Shanesy and one sister, Ruth Anne Gracik. Jack was a 1938 graduate of Troy High School and attended Miami University. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Troy and a US Navy Veteran of WWII. He was formerly associated with the family business, Shaughnessey Appliance Store in Troy and later retired from the City of Troy Parks Department. A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at First Baptist Church, Troy, with Rev. Dr. Doug Magin officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy with Veterans Honor Guard Service at the graveside. Friends may call from 4-8PM on Friday at Baird Funeral Home, Troy.
