John L. Payne, age 80, of Troy, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Ohio's Hospice of Miami County, Troy.  He was born on February 27, 1944, in Tipp City, OH, to the late John Richard and Agnes Susan (Hines) Payne.

John is survived by his wife: Theresa (York) Payne; brother-in-law: Tony York; one son: Richard Payne of Piqua; one daughter: Anita (Tracy) Rowe of Troy; one stepson: Richard Bothel of Piqua; three siblings: Karen James of Troy, Patricia Lambert of Arcanum and Shirley Persinger of Troy; three grandchildren: Richard A. Payne, Travis McKaig and Robbie McKaig; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Charles Micah Payne; and two sisters: Barbara Arnett and Linda Lucille Payne.

John was a member of the Troy Eagles Post 971 for over 20 years.  He retired from Copeland Corporation in Sidney where he was a forklift operator.  John also was employed at Lakeland Golf Club in St. Paris for 30 years.  He enjoyed playing golf and bowling.
