John Philip Owen Passed away Friday, February 12, 2010. Born March 7, 1935, to John Milton and Faith Studebaker Owen, who preceded him in death. He was the beloved husband of Evanthia K. Owen. He leaves his sister, Miriam Irwin Kenneth and daughters Kimberly HustonDale and Cindi Swackhamer Tracey and their mother, Barbara Owen. He was the loving grandfather of Krissy Hoover Barber , Ashley and Chelsy Swackhamer and great grandfather of Evelyn and Nathan Barber. He was a wonderful stepfather to Christopher A. Davis and his children, Hayley and Luke Davis. John proudly served seven years in the U.S. Naval Reserve and attended Ohio State University and Otterbein University. As a talented manufacturing engineer, he founded and was President of Prototype Technology, Inc. and CNC Fixtures during which time he provided innovative manufacturing and engineering solutions to many large aerospace and industrial companies. In addition to his business interests he was a consummate explorer and investigator of all things. His wonder and respect for history, nature, and humanity guided his world wide travels and expanded not only his horizons but those with whom he came in contact. John leaves many dear friends and family members to mourn his passing. His intellect and humor enlivened and enriched those who knew him. His caring and integrity touched everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 19, 11:00 AM at Trinity Episcopal Church 60 South Dorset Road, Troy followed by a celebration of his life at Hayner Cultural Center, 301 West Main Street, Troy. It was his wish that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made either to Doctors Without Borders PO Box 5030, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or locally to Health Partners Free Clinic or Miami County Dental Clinic.
