John W. Macy John W. Macy, age 90, of Troy, Ohio passed away at 10:28AM on Monday, August 2, 2010 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy following a brief illness. He was born on February 2, 1920 in Miami County, Ohio to the late John and Mary K. Burnside Macy. On September 5, 1942, he married Evelyn K. Border Macy and they were married for 63 years until she preceded him in death on April 12, 2006. He is survived by his two daughters and a son-in-law: Rita and Richard Sutherly and Jill Gearhardt all of Troy; four grandchildren: Dan Sutherly of Troy, Amy and Craig Reiter of Elmore, Ohio, Matt and Jessica Gearhardt of Piqua, Ohio and Sarah and Randy Walters of Kettering, Ohio; and three great-grandchildren: Grace and Lydia Reiter and Dylon Bayman. In addition to his parents and his wife, John was preceded in death by five brothers, five sisters and son-in-law, Thomas Gearhardt. He attended Lostcreek School. He was a former member of Casstown Lutheran Church where he served as a church council member. When Casstown Lutheran Church closed its doors, he became a member of Cove Spring Church. He was also a member of U.A.W. Local 128 and Troy Senior Citizens. John was an assembler for Hobart Corp. for 40 years before his retirement in 1982. He lived in Miami County, Ohio for his entire life. Services will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Evan Garber officiating.
