John E. Kirkland, 67, of Suwanee, Ga., and formerly of Timonium, Md., passed away peacefully on Wed., June 8th after a brief battle with a brain tumor. He was born in Troy, Ohio to the late Helen & John Kirkland. He was a graduate of Troy High School and attended Miami University. His career started at Troy National Bank and in 1974 he accepted a position as the first director of the Ohio Lottery. The highlight of his career was working in Paris, France for two years returning to reside in Suwanee. Until his death, he was employed at Intralot USA in Duluth, Ga., as project manager. Mr. Kirkland is survived by his wife of 40 years, Trudy Woodrow Kirkland, daughter and son-in-law; Kelli and Paul Bowie of Reisterstown, Md., son and daughter-in-law; Kevin and Amy Kirkland of Evanston, IL., granddaughter, Katie Leigh, sister, Patricia Beam of Troy , brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Vicki Kirkland of Dayton and sister-in-law and husband, Judy and Jim Roediger of Springfield. Friends may call on the family, Monday, June 13, 2005 from 6-8PM at the Baird Funeral Home, 555 N. Market Street, Troy. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 409 E. Main Street, Troy. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.
