John William Houser died at Dorothy Love Retirement Community, Sidney, Ohio on Tuesday, December 4, 2001. Mr. Houser was formerly of Casstown, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Sarah L. Lair Houser; sons and daughters-in-law: Dr. Stuart L. and Diane Houser, Robert William and Connie Houser and David Joe and Sharon Houser; Sisters, Barbara McKinney, Kathryn Rogers, Lois Clark and Emma Jean Flory; eight grandchildren and one step grandchild. Mr. Houser was preceded in death by his parents, Harry S. and Bessie Iddings Houser; a brother, Melvin and two sisters, Dorothy Harshbarger and Virginia Schaeffer. Mr. Houser was a member of Casstown United Methodist Church where he served as church superintendent for 42 years; served as 4H advisor in Lostcreek Township for 10 years. He was a graduate of Troy High School. Mr. Houser farmed until 1962; he was a realtor for Barnes Realty for 17 years, and owner of Houser Realty Company for 19 years. Mr. Houser donated his body to The University of Michigan Department of Anatomy for medical researach. In lieu of flowers, contrubutions may be sent to the Casstown United Methodist Church, Casstown, Ohio.
