John J. Herron, age 80, of Troy, Ohio passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Koester Pavilion in Troy.  John was born December 18, 1937 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.  He was adopted at age seven by Helene Fougere and John Herron.

John is survived by his wife of twenty years, Ruth (Scott) Harvey-Herron, daughter Esther and son David, three grandchildren, Alex Herron, Yannick and Pascal Vialaneourt of Quebec City, Canada, three stepchildren, Katherine Garwood of Indianapolis, Randy Harvey of Piqua, Bryan Harvey of Troy, five step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by three sisters.

Sgt. Herron served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 25 years.  He was paratrooper both as a jumper and instructor and a boxer.  He loved all sports especially hockey.  He played shuffleboard and golf at their home in Largo, Florida.  He and his wife were ballroom dancers.  He was a member of the Canadian Legion.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy with interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
