John R. Erickson, 90, of Troy, Ohio and formerly of New Carlisle, Ohio died on Thursday, July 20, 2006 at his residence. He was born on March 28, 1916 in Villa Park, Illinois to the late Gustuv and Sarah Morton Erickson. He married Hazel C. Hermanson, and she precedes him in death, Feb. 18, 2004. Surviving are daughter & son-in-law; Carol & Karl Phillips of Troy, OH; son & daughter-in-law; James & Christina Erickson of West Jefferson, OH; brothers, Robert Erickson of Arcadia, MI; and Alfred Erickson of West Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren, Debbie Phillips and Greg Fetters; Dr. Trapper and Angela Phillips; Mike Phillips and fiance, Lisa Joyce; Sarah Erickson; John Erickson; great-grandchildren, Tyler Fetters; Kaylynn Fetters and Logan Phillips. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Alice and nephew, Eric. He was a charter member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Illinois and was a veteran of the US Army, serving during WWII. He retired from Du Page County in Illinois. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 24, 2006 at 2:00pm at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio with the Rev. Gill Krouse officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, Ohio. There will be veterans honor guard services at the graveside. Friends may call on the family, Monday, July 24, 2006 from 12 Noon - 2:00PM at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy.
