Joanne Elaine (Tanner) Disbrow, 89, of Troy, OH passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home on Nov. 11, 2022. She was born in North Canton, Ohio, on Sept. 26, 1933, to the late Paul and Florence (Markley) Gross.

Joanne is survived by her husband of 25 years: Art Disbrow of Troy; children Jennifer (Chris) Spiegel of Rochester NY, Jeff (Adriana) Tanner of Grand Rapids MI, and Jamee (Andres) Urrea of Brownsburg IN; 19 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Sally Tanner. Joanne was preceded in death by her first husband, William George Tanner in 1992 and her infant brother, Larry Gross.

Joanne graduated from North Canton High School in 1951. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Troy and sang in the choir. Joanne was deeply engaged with a variety of community organizations. She served on the Advisory Board of The Salvation Army of Piqua Ohio. She volunteered for Ohio's Hospice of Miami County and Upper Valley Medical Center Auxiliary. She enjoyed her time as a poll worker for elections and was treasurer of the Miami County Republican Women's Club. She served as treasurer for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life and was president of the Troy High School Soccer Parents Group in 1989-90.

Joanne enjoyed playing bridge, belonging to several bridge groups over the years. She was known for her strong organizational skills and loved to entertain. While she held various jobs throughout her life, she was most proud of her work as a homemaker, wife, and mother.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 17 at First United Methodist Church in Troy with Rev. Chris Heckaman officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy.
