Joan E. Karns, 66, of Troy, Ohio died on Friday, July 29, 2005 at 12:01am at the Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio. She was born on May 10, 1939 in Miami County, Ohio to the late John and Ruby Sotzing Plank. She is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law; Tony Karns of Troy, Ohio and Tom Karns and Cynthia Fushimi-Karns of Dublin, Ohio; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Jane Plank of Piqua, OH; Jim and Nancy Plank of Troy, OH; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carole Boehringer of Troy, OH; Susie and Bill Deaton of Christiansburg, OH; Mary and Kent Shook of Troy, OH and Shelly and Dennis Tasker of Covington, OH and six grandchildren; Lindsey Karns; T.J. Karns; Bryan Karns; Abbey Karns; Selena Fushimi-Karns; and Celeste Fushimi-Karns. She is preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Dennis, Gary and John Plank. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #971 and Loyal Order of the Moose #2611; an avid bowler, enjoyed camping and fishing. She formerly was employed with Xerox Corporation and Jones Lang LaSalle, Dayton, OH. Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 1, 2005 @ 10:30am at Baird Funeral Home, Troy with the Rev. Ed Ellis officiating. Friends may call at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio on Sunday, July 31, 2005 from 2-5PM. Burial will be held in Forest Hills Cemetery, Vandalia, Ohio.
