Joan Ruth Funderburg, age 85, of Troy passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017. Joan was born in Shelby County, Ohio on February 3, 1932 to Wayne and Eleanor (Konz) Higgins. The family moved to Piqua in 1942 and Joan graduated from Piqua High school in 1949. Following her graduation she worked at the Anchor Manufacturing Company from 1949 until 1954. Joan's love of beautiful flowers led her to a wonderful 25 year career at Edgar Smith flower shop in Troy.
Joan married James Funderburg on April 8, 1951 and the two spent 51 happy years together until his death on August 4, 2002. She was very proud of her two sons James W. To say Joan enjoyed sports would be an understatement she and her husband were long time season ticket holders and supporters of Troy High School athletics, loved to attend the American Legion baseball games, enjoyed their trips to Athens to cheer on the Bobcats and bled Ohio State Scarlet and Grey.
