Jerry Lee Bates Jerry Lee Bates, age 74, of Troy, Ohio, passed away at 7:58AM on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Piqua, Manor, Piqua, Ohio. He was born on April 27, 1938 in Sidney, Ohio to the late William and Lillian Forest Bates. His wife, Janet Bates, preceded him in death. He is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Melissa and Jeff Santiago, Sr., Deborah Bates, and Robin Bates all of Troy; two sisters, Ruth Mance of Centerville, Ohio and Sandra Fannon of Columbus, Ohio; and four grandchildren: Jeffrey Santiago, Jr., Eric Bates and fiancé Jessica Hole, Joshua Jump, and Brittany Bates all of Piqua, Ohio. In addition to his parents and his wife, Jerry was preceded in death by one grandson, Jason Bates; three brothers and two sisters. He was a member of Upper Room Church and he served in the National Guard. Jerry was a machine operator with L&H Threaded Rods for more than 20 years. A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, May 18, 2012 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy with interment to follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua, Ohio.
