Janice Ann "Jan" Schaefer, age 86, formerly of New Carlisle and more recently of Troy, Ohio passed away on April 25, 2025. She was born on September 1, 1938 in Connersville, Indiana to the late Leonard and Pauline (Kirkham) Struewing.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years: William A. "Bill" Schaefer; three children: Jill Simons, Jim (Pam) Schaefer and David (Lisa) Schaefer; grandchildren: Michaela, Ryan Jacob "RJ", Will and Alex; sister: Helen Andreas; brother: James L. (Marte) Struewing and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister: LeRae Dick.

Jan was a graduate of Marysville High School.  She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy. She was a stay-at-home mom and assisted her husband as a secretary with the Nationwide Insurance Agency in New Carlisle.  Following retirement, they enjoyed their winters in Naples, Florida. Jan enjoyed entertaining friends, playing cards and spending time with her family.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 2, 2025 at Baird Funeral Home in Troy with interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home.
