Janet K. Knife, age 95, of Tipp City passed away on August 9, 2025 surrounded by her children.  She was born on June 2, 1930 in Bethel Township to the late Theodore and Lena (Cost) Filbrun.

She is survived by her children: Rick Knife of Casstown, Vicky (Richard Swank) Shilt of Bradford, Tim (Gaile) Knife of Troy, Dan (Mary) Knife of Troy and Rob (Emily) Knife of Troy; grandchildren: Ted Shilt, Eric (Natalie) Knife, Angie  (Chris) Thompson, Kimberly (Casey) Canan, Tiffany (Brian) Hilliard, Bradley (Destiny) Knife, Jennifer (Brian) Petrick, Cody Knife and Kaitlin (Kyle) Burns; great grandchildren: Logan, Haley, Presley and Addisyn Shilt, Jacob Comer, Brianna and Isaac Thompson, Emma, Rylee, Owen and Lilly Canan, Alex and Abby Hilliard, Lily Hayes, Levi, Lincoln and Maizey Knife, Emery and Sterling Burns; siblings: Kenny (Cindy) Filbrun of Springfield, Carryl (Bob) Anderson of Fairborn and sister-in-law: Sally Filbrun; numerous friends and extended family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years: Richard Lee Knife; daughter-in-law: Marcia Knife; great grandson: Johnathan Petrick; siblings: Dick (Darlene) Filbrun and Carl Filbrun and sister-in-law: Barb Filbrun.

She was a 1948 graduate of Elizabeth Schools. She was a longtime active member of Cove Spring Church and Past President of the Women's Fellowship of the church, Cove Spring Grange, Homemakers Club, Elizabeth Township Historical Society and the Tipp City Senior Citizens.  She served as secretary for Elizabeth School for 25 years. She and her husband were the 2001 Strawberry Golden Couple and they enjoyed traveling on bus trips over the years. She enjoyed entertaining, decorating and supporting her grandchildren and great grandchildren in their sporting and other activities.

Services will be held at 3:00PM on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Baird Funeral Home with interment to follow in Casstown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM – 8:00PM on Thursday with Grange service to follow.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cove Spring Grange, Elizabeth Township Historical Society or Hospice of Miami County.
