Janet M. Heffelfinger Payton, age 86, of Troy passed away on December 25, 2021 at the Troy Care and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born on July 4, 1935 in Dayton to the late Kenneth and Clarice (Hagler) Deis.

Janet is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Pam and Kenny Wintrow of Troy; Cathy and Rick Knife of Troy and Sandy and Roger Briggs of Waynesville; son and daughter-in-law: Rich and Twila Heffelfinger of Charleston, WV; grandchildren: Heather Earl, Matthew Wintrow, Randy (Holly) Knife, Cara Knife, Tyler (Kathy) Wintrow, Danny (Ashlee) Knife, Brock Heffelfinger, Jessie Wintrow, Blake Heffelfinger, Andrew (Bridget) Briggs, Kyle Briggs and Casey Briggs; nine great grandchildren; half-sister: Charlene Hicks; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband:  Richard Heffelfinger and second husband: Donald D. Payton.

Janet was a member of the Troy Senior Center.  She was also an honorary member of Troy Fish & Game and Troy VFW.  Janet retired in 2000 from Ledex in Vandalia.  She enjoyed going out to eat, QVC shopping and spending time at the Senior Center.
