Jane Anne Trautmann, age 98, of Troy, OH passed away on February 14, 2025, at StoryPoint Troy. She was born on October 8, 1926, in Lakeland, FL to the late Henry and Jane (Reynolds) Hesse.

Jane was raised in Pittsburgh, PA, where she met her husband, Elmer M. Trautmann. They wed on June 11, 1946, and were married for fifty-three years until Elmer's death in 1999.

Jane began her career as a legal secretary for an attorney in Pittsburgh, PA. When her husband was posted to Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho, Jane worked as a secretary with the civilian staff re-opening the base following World War II.

Later, she earned a Bachelor of Education degree from Youngstown State University and a Master of Education at Kent State University. She began a doctorate at Kent State University researching gifted and talented education.

A teacher in the Boardman School System in Ohio for twenty-eight years, Jane loved teaching and found her students fascinating. She possessed great curiosity for people and ideas.

Jane became a yoga teacher, certified by the Kripalu Center, and taught yoga from her home for many years. She was very creative, and after her retirement from teaching, volunteered as a docent at the Butler Art Institute of American Art in Youngstown, OH. She was a member of First Covenant Church in Boardman.

She and Elmer loved to travel and took their family on many vacations, from summer road trips around the country to travels in Europe. On her own, she traveled to Russia, Mongolia and China in the 1980s.

After Elmer's death, Jane moved to The Villages, Florida, where she lived for sixteen years. She was involved in many clubs and organizations there, her favorite being the Foreign Film Club. She moved to Troy, OH in 2017 to be close to her family and resided at StoryPoint until her death.

Jane loved her family. She crafted memorable experiences for her granddaughters throughout their childhoods and was delighted by her great grandchildren in her later years. She will be remembered for her strength and lively interest in the world around her.

Jane is survived by her daughter: Karen (Shannon) DeHart; grandchildren: Allison DeHart, Rebekah (Jordan) Romberger, and Rachel (Bob) Bilokonsky; and great grandchildren: Gavin, Maile, Tate, Evelyn, John, and Alice. In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband: Elmer M. Trautmann; son: Martin K. (Annie) Trautmann; great granddaughter: Willow; sister: Helen (Earl) Foutch; and brother: Henry (Louise) Hesse.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
