December 12, 1942 – June 11, 2014
JAMES R. VODDE, age 71, of Troy passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Koester Pavilion in Troy. He was born in Ft. Wayne, IN on December 12, 1942 to the late Richard J. and Ruth M. F. (Shaw) Vodde. On September 29, 1979 in Ft. Wayne, IN, he married Debra S.(Baumgardner) Vodde. She survives.
Jim is also survived by two sons and daughter-in-law: Micheal and Kris Vodde of Columbia City, IN and Brandon Vodde of Kissimmee, FL; one daughter and son-in-law: Tara and Shane Keechle of Troy; one sister: LeAnna Noble of Decatur, IN; and five grandchildren: Cassandra Vodde, Alexandra Vodde, Shannon Andrews, Travis Keechle and Joshua Keechle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother-in-law: Al Noble.
Jim obtained an Associate's Degree from Ivy Tech. He was employed by International Harvester in Ft. Wayne, IN and Springfield, OH for over 44 years. Jim proudly served his country as a member of the US Army. He served in Vietnam. Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Troy. He was active with the First Place Food Pantry and Youth Group at the church. Jim was also a member of American Legion in Columbia City, IN.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Troy with Rev. Dave Leckrone officiating. Graveside and Honor Guard services will be at Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke, IN at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 16, 2014. Friends may call from 5-8 PM on Friday at Baird Funeral Home in Troy and 12:00 Noon – 2:00 PM on Saturday at the church.
