James D. Shaeffer age 62, of Troy, OH. Died Thursday at James Cancer Hospital, The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH. He was born January 1, 1943 in Miami County, OH the son of Raymond H. and Virginia Houser Shaeffer who preced him in death. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Tomala Dickensheets Shaeffer, three daughters, Tracy Beckey of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Niki Pfeiffer of Troy, OH; Tiffany Shaeffer of Chicago, IL; one son, John Schutz of Troy, OH, a brother, Raymond P. Shaeffer of Troy, OH, two sisters, Wanda Moore of El Paso, TX and Mary Kadel of Troy, OH and sister-in-law Sally Shaeffer of Troy, OH. Four Grandchildren, Paige and Claire Beckey both of Florida and Keaton and Carly Pfeiffer both of Troy. James is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents James is preceded in death by brothers, William L. Shaeffer; Charles W. Rice and sisters Elsie Hoffman and Cynthia Shaeffer. He was a member of First United Church of Christ, Troy, OH; Troy Fish and Game Club; Troy AmVets and he served in the US Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. James worked as a Pipe fitter with Ford Engine Plant, Lima, OH and was a member of the Plumbers and Pipe fitters #162 and the United Autoworkers Union.
