James (Jim) R. Pour, age 89, of Troy, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, in his home.  He was born on October 3, 1934, in Troy, to the late Walter and Norma (Magoto) Pour.

Jim is survived by his wife of over 68 years: Janet M. (Talmage) Pour; three children: Cathy Bumgarner of Idaho Falls, ID, Chris (Maria) Pour of Cincinnati and Jenny LeDoux of Lafayette, LA; two siblings: Barb (Bill) Thoma of Brookville and Kathryn Pinter of Troy; five grandchildren: Tom Solokis, Michelle Fletcher, Evan Pour, Abbey Pour and Caroline Pour; one great grandchild: Rosie Lambert; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved (and spoiled) cat, Pooter.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Robert Pour.

Jim was a 1952 graduate of Newton High School.  He proudly served his country as a member of the US Army.  Following his service, he worked for Frigidaire, and also completed his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from the University of Dayton in 1972. In 1990, he retired from General Motors as an Industrial Engineer, but anyone who knows Jim knows he truly never stopped working. One of his biggest passions throughout his life was viticulture and winemaking, having managed multiple vineyards and wineries, even winning awards with the Ohio Wine Producers Association. Later in life he added jelly making to his list of hobbies, but enjoyed giving these things away to friends and family even more than making them … primarily as an excuse to make social visits.  Jim was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy and enjoyed his Friday morning "Breakfast Club".

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 26, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy, with visitation held immediately prior to the service from 9:00-10:30 AM at Baird Funeral Home in Troy.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.
