James R. Polhamus, age 65 of Troy, Ohio died Saturday, June 25, 2005 at Vandalia Park after an extended illness. He was born of the late, John C. and Freida L. Purk Polhamus. Married to his wife of over 47 years, Mary Lee Leffel Polhamus who survives him. He is also survived by his children, daughter and son-in-law, Lora and Karlton Mick; sons and daughter-in-law, James Robert Rob Polhamus Jr., David L. and Cherilyn Polhamus; brothers and sister-in-law, John Richard and Margie Polhamus and Michael J. Polhamus; sister, Sue Drake; grandchildren, Karlton William Mick III, Kristopher Allan Mick, Kyle Robert Mick, Ashlee Nicole Polhamus, Amanda Lyn Polhamus, Jacob Matthew Polhamus; stepgrandchildren, James Allan Zimmerman and Nicole Star Booher Lee and stepgreat-grandchildren, Harper and Ivy Lee and Isabelle Buroughs and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nancy Denman. A member of the Troy Fish and Game Club, Troy Hockey Boosters, he was very active in softball and a strong promoter of youth sports and activities. He was a member of the Miami County Horsemen Association and was a horse trainer and owner of standard-bred horses. Formerly employed as a tool and die maker with Hobart Brothers Company, Tipp Machine and Tool, Crane Pumps and former employee of Troy Grain Supply Company and Woodson-Tennett Laboratories. All family and friends are welcome to a gathering after the service at 970 Skylark Drive, Troy. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
