JAMES A. MITCHELL

JAMES A. MITCHELL, age 80, of Troy, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Kindred Hospital in Dayton.  He was born on July 18, 1935 in Cambridge, OH to the late Arthur and Martha (Chalfant) Mitchell.  His wife, Shirley L. (Dye) Mitchell, preceded him in death in 2013.

James is survived by three children: Kimberly Snyder of Perrysburg, OH, Kevin J. (Karin Coker) Mitchell and Timothy C. (Cassidy) Mitchell, both of Troy; two sisters: Judy (Frank) Leyshon and Joyce (Carl) Allen, both of Cambridge, OH; one brother: Jack Mitchell of Vancouver, WA; six grandchildren: Grant (Esther) Mitchell of Troy, OH, Aaron (Fiancé Jenna) Mitchell of Columbus, OH, Garrett Mitchell of Columbus, OH, Katie (Ben) Stephens of Perrysburg, OH, Kristin (Adam) Snyder of Cheyenne, WY and Adam Snyder of Perrysburg, OH; one great grandchild: Alexandria Mitchell of Troy, OH; and favorite companion: Nemo.

James attended Miami University in Oxford, OH.  He proudly served his country as a member of the US Army.  James was a member of the Cambridge Eagles, Cambridge VFW and Troy Fish and Game.  He retired in 1994 as a Manager with GTE.  James was an avid coin collector and gun enthusiast.  He also liked to travel and enjoyed eating out.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Northwood Cemetery in Cambridge, OH.  Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery in Cambridge, OH.  Arrangements are being handled by Baird Funeral Home in Troy.
