James F. James, age 100, of Troy, OH passed away on October 16, 2025 at The Courtyard of Troy. He was born on November 9, 1924 in Wellston, OH to the late John E. and Dessie (Drake) James.

Jim is survived by his children: Evan (Sandy) James of Canton, NC, Allyn (Patty) James of Troy and Mary (Greg) Fritz of Troy; grandchildren: Ray James, Kim James Emery, Matt (Alisha) Beam and Megan (Mason) Barhorst; great grandchildren: D'arcy, Rayanon, Zachary, Ryker and Lydia Pearl and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years: Pearl M. (Hodgson) James on December 10, 2021; her son: Richard Matthew James; five brothers: Byron, Earl, Fred, John and Charles and four sisters: Bevan, Elizabeth, Alverda and Lorraine.

Jim served his country in US Army Air Corp during WWII. He retired after many years of service as an accountant with Hobart Corporation. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, Troy and very active in various activities including the First Place Food Pantry and the FISH organization.  He was also a former member of the Sertoma Club, Boy Scouts treasurer and Cub Scouts leader.

At 100 years old, he carried a century of wisdom and a heart that embraced his family and his neighbors, leaving behind a legacy of grace and compassion.  Our family was so blessed to have him in our lives.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy with Rev. Dr. Chris Heckaman officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM on Tuesday.  Private interment will take place in Miami Memorial Park, Covington at a later date.
