Former Troy resident James A. Hastings passed away on January 27, 2014 in Leesburg, FL.

Mr. Hastings married Carol Bishop of Arlington, OH on November 29, 1958.  Carol Hastings preceded him in death on August 4, 2006.  He was also preceded by his parents, Truman and Madeline Hastings of Marietta, OH; sister, Jean and brother, William.

He is survived by his brothers, Richard Hastings of Tavares, FL and John Hastings of Euclid, OH; his companion, Bonnie Mayo of Tavares, FL; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Josel Hastings of Troy, OH; his daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Steve Toms of Loveland, OH; and adopted son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Janet Worth of Troy, OH.  James has six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hastings was born October 17, 1932 in Marietta, OH, graduated from Marietta High School in 1952, and served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

James was a long time employee with Hobart Corporation then became President of the Troy Sunshade Company when it moved to Greenville, OH.  Mr. and Mrs. Hastings were owners of The Hastings Frame Shop and later the Tin Man Shop.

Mr. Hastings was active in many community organizations including: the Troy Jaycees, Troy Rec Board, Elks, Dollars for Scholars, and the Miami County Republican Party to name a few.  He was also very involved in the American Heart Association and served as National Chairman.

Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Baird Funeral Home , Troy, OH.  He will join his wife, Carol at Riverside Cemetery in Troy, OH.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
