James L. "Duke" Snyder, age 82, of Troy passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. He was born on September 26, 1941, in Winchester, IN to the late Harold Snyder and Mary Elizabeth (Henisa) Snyder.

Duke is survived by his wife: Sally (Curtis) Snyder; children:  Carol (Jason) Kunkle, Carmen (James) Dumas and Steven (Barb) Snyder; stepdaughter: Dicy Stapleton; stepson: Nelson Stapleton; siblings: Linda Lackey, Rosalie (Haskell) Patton, Keith (Lisa) Snyder, Bruce (Connie) Snyder and Brian Snyder; grandchildren: Stephanie (Richard) Baylis, Heather (Fiancé Billy Sahos) Skidmore, Stephen (Leah) Dumas, Austin Kunkle, Elizabeth (Phillip) Howard, Joseph Snyder, Cameron Kunkle and Brody Stapleton and six great-grandchildren.

Duke was a 1959 graduate of White River High School in Indiana and was in the United States Air Forces for eight years. He was a member of the Troy View Church of God and an Elder for 12 years. He was an Electrician and retired from Chapel Electric in Dayton, OH after 33 years. He previously enjoyed bowling and playing softball. He loved gardening and was very handy; able to fix anything.

Services will be held at 5:00 PM, Monday, July 15, 2024 at Baird Funeral Home in Troy with Pastor Dan Cain officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Monday. Interment will take place on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 in the Dayton National Cemetery.
