James L. Casteele, age 86, of Troy, Ohio died Monday, February 16, 2009 at the Koester Pavilion, Troy, Ohio. He was born October 10, 1922 in Celina, Ohio to the late Raymond F. Casteele and Theda Taylor Casteele. He was married to Sue Neumeier Casteele his wife of 61 years who survives. Other survivors include his nephews and nieces, Robert L. Beth Casteele of Kettering, OH; Scott Casteele of Mason, Michigan; Dean Wagner of Baltimore, MD; Marilyn and John Hatch of Rhinebeck, NY; Joan Beck of Fletcher, OH; Bonnie and Ron Newnam of Piqua, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, B. Franklin Casteele; and nephew, Dennis Casteele. He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Troy, Hobart Quarter Century Club, Troy, American Legion, Troy, Ohio, Brukner Rock and Gem Club and Friends of the Library, Troy and the Troy Historical Society. He volunteered with Hobart Corporation Historical and was a former volunteer with the Troy Emergency Crew. He was also a US Veteran of the Infantry Para Troop of WWII, serving from 1942-1945. Mr. Casteele retired from Hobart Corp. in 1982. Services will be held 11:00AM Friday, Feb. 20, 2009 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, OH. Interment to be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Troy, Ohio with veterans honor guard services at the graveside. Friends may call on the family from 4-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
