Jack D. Chaney Jack D. Chaney, age 83, formerly of Troy, Ohio, more recently of Greenville, Ohio, passed at 5:30PM on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Versailles Health Care Center, Versailles, Ohio. He was born on March 8, 1926 in Troy, Ohio to the late Charles and Minnie Hansford Chaney. His wife of 62 years, Vivian Brown Chaney, survives. Jack is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Terry and Gail Chaney of Troy, Ohio; daughter and son-in-law: Kim and Gary Kirby of Greenville, Ohio; daughter-in-law: Sharon Chaney of Troy, Ohio; four sisters: Jean Avey of Troy, Ohio, Mary Ellen Durst of Tipp City, Ohio, Betty Moore of Troy, Ohio, Kaye Scherer of Troy, Ohio; three brothers: Jerry Chaney of Troy, Ohio, Larry Chaney of Pleasant Hill, Ohio, Bill Chaney of Tipp City, Ohio; ten grandchildren: Heath Chaney, Deany Dohm, Rick, Randy, Shane, Crystal, and Jeff Chaney, Nicky Kramer, Zeb Kirby, and Ashley Jones; and fifteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Wayne Chaney; brothers: Jim, Bob, Charles, Gary, Don and Dave Chaney and sisters: Dorothy Hall, Barb Stuart and Judy Young. He was a US Army WWII Veteran and a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Greenville, Ohio. Jack worked for Hobart Brothers for 35 years before becoming part owner/operator of Chaney's Nursery where he retired. A funeral service will be held at 12:00PM on Friday, October 23, 2009 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with interment in Riverside Cemetery, Troy with Veterans honor guard service at the graveside. Friends may call from 10:00AM to 12:00PM on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice State of the Heart, Greenville, Ohio or Alzheimer's Association.
