It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Irene Nelly Sluiter, September 22, 2023, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She was in the loving and tender care of her son, Hemmo Sluiter and wife Linda of Piqua.

Irene was born November 11, 1932, in Surabaya, Indonesia. As a teenager her family moved to The Hague, Netherlands (Holland) where her children were born, prior to the family moving to Troy, Ohio in 1960.

Irene is survived by: sister, Maude Hendriks, 93, Doorn, The Netherlands, and family; daughter, Francis Patrick, and husband Michael; grandchildren, Travis Shefbuch and wife Ashley, and their sons Jordan and Tyler; Ryan Shefbuch and wife Michelle, and their children Tanner and Rogyn Irene; Kari (Shefbuch) Foster and Colt Hines, and children Isaac Drzewiecki, Allison Drzewiecki, Grant Foster, Kaitlynn Hines and Haven Hines; son, Hemmo Sluiter, and wife Linda.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Sluiter and her parents, Caroline and Hemmo Hemmes of the Netherlands.

She retired in 1997 after 33 years from M&R Drugs in Troy.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00PM on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Baird Funeral Home in Troy. Memorial contributions may be made to Caretenders Hospice, 2621 Dryden Road, Suite 204, Moraine, OH 45439.
