Irene H. Proffitt, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 2, 2009. She resided in her family home at the time of her passing. She was born December 21, 1916 in Fonde, KY to the late George and Dora Howard Hodge. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James G. Proffitt on April 27, 1977. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Shirley Proffitt of Placentia, CA; daughter and son-in-law, Suzie and Phil Chmiel of Troy; son and daughter-in-law, Evan and Linda Proffitt of Dayton; three sisters, Lavada Hill, Lee Rellias, and Bernice Cawood all of Monroe, MI; six grandchildren, Ginger Rapport, Jim Proffitt, David Saunders, Suzanne Joyce, Kevin Proffitt and Tarronda Harris; eight great-grandchildren Bradley, Jason, Jessica, Gary, Keely, Abbey, Nicholas, and Conner. She was a member of the Troy Baptist Temple and was formerly employed with Atlas Allen A in Piqua for 28 years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the Troy Baptist Temple with Pastor David Mulvaine and Dr. Jerry Siler officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Troy. Friends may call on the family Tuesday, December 8 , 2009 from 4-7PM at the Baird Funeral Home in Troy.
