Howard R. "Bob" Zirkle, 81, of Troy, Ohio died on Sunday, November 12, 2006 at the Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio. He was born on February 26, 1925 in Miami County, Ohio to the late Louis M. & Nellie M. Evilsizor Zirkle. He married Martha Jane Gump Zirkle, and she survives his wife of 59 years. Also surviving are son and daughter-in-law; David and Mary Zirkle of Troy, OH; daughters and sons-in-law; Kathy and Ian Waterman of Troy, OH; Janie and Cass Cullis of Troy, OH; grandchildren, Adam Zirkle and Fiance' Becca Lentz of Wapakoneta, OH; Heather Zirkle of Washington DC; Jill and Lloyd Trader of Ballston Spa, New York; Michael Suber and Fiance' Nikki Routzahn of Troy, OH; Abby Suber of Boulder, Colorado; Christopher Suber of The University of Kentucky; two step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Eddie Zirkle. He was a member of American Legion and VFW Post of Troy, OH; and a WW II US Marine Corp veteran. He loved camping; woodworking and boating and he was Commodore of the Troy Boat Club in 1960. He was a graduate of Staunton High School. He was Co-owner-operator with his father of Zirkle Lumber Sales and owned and operated Zirkle Excavating Company and most of his life he was a mechanic. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2006 at 10:30AM at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio with the Rev. Al Bastin officiating. Burial will be in Casstown Cemetery, Casstown, Ohio with veteran honor guard at the graveside. Friends may call on the family, Wednesday, November 15, 2006 from 2-4PM & 6-8PM at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Association.
