Howard James Boyd, age 79, of Troy, OH passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at his residence.  Howard was born on August 28, 1938 in Cambridge City, IN to the late Gerald and Ellen (Harris) Boyd.

Howard is survived by his wife of 58 years: Alice R. (Kurylowich) Boyd; children: Bill (Kelly) Boyd of Troy; Diane Lade (Kyle Barker) of St. Paris; Sandy (Chris) Nosker of Troy; Donald (Kent VanGuelpen) Boyd of Stow and Patricia (Todd) Kline of Troy; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brothers: Gene Boyd of Indianapolis, IN, Fred (Randi) Boyd of Hagerstown, IN and Randy (Jennifer) Boyd of Milton, IN and special friend: Dog, Tommy.  In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his two sons: Mark and James Boyd and brothers: Larry Boyd and Rick Boyd.

Howard received his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University.  He served his country in the US Air Force, stationed in Germany.  He was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Troy; American Legion Post #271; VFW Post # 5436 and the Troy Fish and Game.  He was formerly employed with Hobart Corporation in Troy.  He retired from Hill-Rom in Batesville, IN and worked as a consultant following his retirement.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Troy.  Interment will take place at a later date in New Lisbon Cemetery, New Lisbon, IN.  The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00PM on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's House, 207 East Main Street, Troy, OH 45373.
