Hildreth Lewis Miller, age 93, passed away at Caldwell House, Troy, OH on Monday, October 22, 2001. She was born July 27, 1908 in Champaign County, OH. Her family moved to Casstown, OH where she was a lifelong resident. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ethel Routt Miller and one brother, Carlton Miller. Her survivors are a brother, Merle Miller of Myakka City, FL and two sisters, Edythe Miller Stevens and Virginia Miller Manning Hoover of Casstown; her nieces and nephews, Marilyn Miller Lanich, Michele Miller Sansbury, Donald Miller, James Miller, Mark Stevens, Rebecca Stevens Turanski, David Manning, Michael Manning, Thomas Manning and Sue Manning Phillis. Hildreth was a 1925 graduate of Lostcreek School and graduate of West Milton Normal School and Wittenberg University. She was a teacher for 43 years and taught at Knoop Children's Home, Lostcreek, Heywood and Van Cleve Schools and was a member of the Miami East Hall of Fame. She was affiliated with Children's International Summer Village for many years and was the national secretary for 13 years with the office in Casstown. She traveled to 33 different countries and touched the lives of many young people. She also worked in the Admission office at Urbana College and was a school guide at the Johnston farm. Hildreth was a life long member of Casstown Lutheran Church and served in offices in both the church and Sunday School. A 50 year member of the Eastern Star Chapter #256 of Troy and held several local and district offices. She was a member of the Troy Senior Citizens and of educational organizations. Her services will be held 2 PM Friday, October 26, 2001 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio with Rev. Ed Ellis officiating. Interment in Casstown Cemetery, Casstown, Ohio. Friends may call at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy 4-8PM Thursday. Contributions may be made to Miami East Scholorship Fund or Childrens International Summer Village.
