Herbert E. Edwards, 82 of Troy, Ohio died Friday, January 11, 2008 at 1:00PM at his residence. He was born December 19, 1925 in Durham, NC to the late Beauford E. and Alma Gentry Edwards. He was also preceded in death by his wife Bertie Dunham Edwards on September 21, 2005 and his sister Zelma Coleman. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Teresa and Wallace Skidmore of Troy; Sisters: Geraldine Miller of Cleveland, Ohio and Murl Preble of Prescott, AZ; Brother-in-law: Bill Coleman of Venice, FL; Two grandchildren: Andrew and Sherrie Skidmore of Troy and Kelly and Matt Snider of Troy; Three great-grandchildren: Austin Skidmore, Braeden and Kylee Snider. He was a graduate of Portsmouth High School and Ohio University. Mr. Edwards was a member of the Hobart Quarter Century Club and Ginghamsburg Church, he also attended Richards Chapel. He was appointed a Kentucky Colonel in 1965. He was a supporter of the Troy Christian Athletic Boosters. He was a plant manager and a product coordinator in the Kitchen Aide Division at Hobart Corp. He was also a US Army veteran in the 63rd Infantry Division, 254th K Company. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy with the Rev. Ed Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington, Ohio with Military Honors. Friends May Call on the family 2 hours prior to service on Wednesday. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County or Troy Christian Schools.
