Henry Franz Schmalenberg, age 78, of Tipp City, passed away on August 15, 2021, at SpringMeade Health Center in Tipp City. He was born on October 16, 1942 in Osiek, Poland, to the late Heinrich and Karoline (Marko) Schmalenberg.

Henry is survived by two children: Kelly (William) Boyd and Karen (Kevin Phibbs) Fitch; eight siblings: Eva (Larry) Atwell, Karl (Turrie) Marko, Adolf (Jane) Marko, Hannelore Zimmerman, Inge (Gery) Voisard, Ottmar (Paula) Marko, Helmut (Julie) Marko and Hilda (Michael) Rice; sisters-in-law: Esther Marko and Darlene Schmalenberg; brother-in-law: James Sarich; four grandchildren: Karoline (Aaron) Pratt, Adrienne (Andrew) Schreiner, Kaiti (Tiffany) Fitch and Emily (Fiancé, Chris Fitch) Boyd; and seven great grandchildren: Micah, Kirah, Lolah, Ezrah, Anya, Avery and Addison.  In addition to his birth parents, Henry was preceded in death by his wife: Donna Lee Schmalenberg; parents who raised him: Karl and Hilda Marko; and siblings: John Marko, Fred Schmalenberg and Lura Sarich.

Henry attended Newton Schools. He retired after 44 years from Hobart Brothers Company. Henry enjoyed car shows and showing his El Camino. Most of all, he loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at Baird Funeral Home in Troy.
