Helen R. Layne, age 78, of Troy, OH and Ft. Pierce, FL, passed away on December 5, 2024 at her residence in Florida.  She was born on May 11, 1946 in Versailles, OH to the late Lloyd and Frances (Eck) Bey.

She is survived by her husband: Doyle Layne Jr.; daughter and son-in-law: Carma and Chris Maleski; son and daughter-in-law: Doyle "Trey" Layne III and Denise Layne and four grandchildren: Nathan, Corinne, Kylie and Coby; nieces: Veronica Schlueter, Kathy Mott and Tammy Sowers; nephew: Mike (Cheryl) Simon.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings: Jeanie Schlueter, Betty Buzard, John Bey, Vera Schmidt, Roger Bey and Judy Homan.

Helen retired from General Motors Corporation in Vandalia after 30 years of service.  Helen enjoyed the bible study group in Florida.  Our house in Sandhill Shores was her happy place.  Helen loved going to the pool and beach to lay in the sun.  Christmas was her most favorite holiday.  She enjoyed hand quilting and crocheting Afghans.  Flowers were always special to her.  She really loved traveling and RVing.  Her favorite thing was to get earrings, bracelets and hat on and go to the cardroom to play cards with her friends.  She held her family and friends dear to her heart.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, December 16, 2024, at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, OH with interment to follow in Miami Memorial Park in Covington, OH. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
