Helen M. Smock Cooper Helen M. Smock Cooper was born in Troy, Ohio on September 9, 1915 to the late Hervie and Della Gillis Smock. Helen died on January 4, 2010. She is survived by her son, Dennis Morris, daughter-in-law Linda Morris, stepdaughter, Paula Coleman and daughter, Linda Cooper. Her sister, Eunice Gray, survives as well as grandchildren, Leslie and Ron Cooper, Jason and Jennifer Morris, plus great-grandchildren, Patrick Cooper, Jalin Cooper, Thomas Morris and Brianna Morris. Helen was first married to O. Dale Morris and later to John W. Cooper, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Alva and Jack Smock. She has been a lifelong resident of Troy, with much pride in being a Troy Trojan. She was a 1934 graduate of Troy High School. For nine years, she has been a resident of Koester Pavilion Nursing Home in Troy. Helen has been a lifelong member of the First United Church of Christ in Troy. She worked for many years as a store clerk and later a healthcare companion, helping others in her quiet, gentle way. Helen cared deeply for her family and will be greatly missed. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Baird Funeral Home Troy, Ohio. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Troy.
