Harold E. Martin Harold E. Martin, age 87, of Troy, Ohio, died suddenly on Saturday, February 9, 2008 in Troy. He was born on June 4, 1920 in Versailles, Ohio, to the late Ira C. and Mary Etta "Mae" Gray Martin. His family included: numerous cousins; sister, Maxine; Aunts: Ann Russell, Effie Martin, Blanche Hollingsworth and Alice Burns. Mr. Martin was a graduate of Versailles High School in 1939. He was also a WWII US Army Veteran, lifetime member of the Troy VFW Post #5436, member of the First United Church of Christ, Versailles; Versailles Lodge #290 F&AM Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton; Antioch Shrine Temple, Dayton; the Miami County Shrine Club; and Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 971, Troy. He was a longtime horse lover and raced trotters and pacers. He was in the Rose Bowl Parade with his horse, Goldie, as a part of the Antioch Shrine Mounted Patrol. Mr. Martin retired in 1975 from NCR, Dayton, OH. Services will be held at 10:00AM February 23, 2008 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, OH, with interment to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Versailles, OH. There will be an Eagles Service at the funeral Home on February 22 and Military Honor Guard Services at the Graveside on February 23. Friends may call from 4-7PM February 22 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Canteen or the Shriner's Childrens Hospital. Friends may also express condolences to the family through www.bairdfuneralhome.com.
