Harold M.Avey, 87, died at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio on Thursday, December 25, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Daphne Ivey Jackson Avey; four children and two step children: Sons and daughters-in-laws: Robert and Susan Avey; Harold, Jr. and Sandra Avey. Daughters and son-in-law: Joy and Perry Cottrell and Marilyn Jeffers. Two stepchildren, Grace Dixon and Ken Jackson. Sisters: Faye Saum, Jean Favorite and JoAnn Littlejohn. Brothers: Marvin, Ralph, Norman, Harry and Donald Avey. He is survived by twelve grandchildren and three step grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren. Mr. Avey was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Marie Avey; two brothers, Charles and Floyd Avey; daughter, Joyce Elaine Avey;; son, William J. Avey; son-in-law, John Jeffers and sister, Virginia Gearhardt. Mr. Avey was a graduate of Staunton school and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He was retired from Dayton Power and Light and formerly worked with the City of Troy. Visitation for Mr. Avey will be from 5-7pm Friday, December 26 at Baird Funeral Home with a service at 10:00AM Saturday, December 27 at the funeral home. Rev. John Yardley will be officiate at the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church, Troy, Ohio.
