Gladys Rebecca Roeth, 89, of Troy, Ohio passed out of this life on Tuesday, Janurary 27, 2004 at the Harborside Health Care Center in Troy, Ohio, unexpectedly after a short stay at the Nursing Home. She was born October 27, 1914 in New Market, Virginia to the late Otis E. and Nina E. Huffman Phillips. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert E. Roeth; who passed in 1995; two sisters, Ruth Roeth and Eileen Hart and one brother, Elwood Phillips. She is survived by 2 children, Melvyn and Marilyn Roeth of Piqua, Ohio and Kenneth Roeth of Piqua, Ohio. She also has a brother, C. William Phillips of Troy, and a sister, Virginia Phillips of Troy who survive. She has 3 grandchildren, Mike and Letty Roeth of Ft. Wayne, Ind; Mark and Paula Roeth of Troy; and Marsha and Ken DeWeese of Piqua, Ohio. Also 8 great grandchildren, Ryan, Colin, Logan, Kyle, Lindsey, Justin, Christian, and Cameron. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Troy; Member of Deborah Circle; Charter member of Staunton Grange and member of the state and national Grange. Charter member of Association of Retarded Citizens of Miami County, ARC. She graduated from Staunton High School in 1932. There will be a Private Burial at Casstown Cemetery, Casstown, Ohio. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Janurary 31, 2004 at 10:30AM at the First Lutheran Church in Troy, Ohio with Rev. Gill Krouse officiating the service. There will be no public calling hours. Contributions may be made to Special Olympics in care of Riverside Miami County, 1625 Troy-Sidney Road, Troy, Ohio 45373.
