Dick Feierstein of Troy passed away peacefully into God's arms on March 2 at Brookdale Senior Living. In his last days on Earth, he was surrounded by his family, shared stories of his life experiences, and prayed with his pastor.
Dick was born April 2, 1929, in Troy, OH, to the late Harold G. Feierstein (Barney) & Mary Rodeheffer. He is survived by his four children, Jeff Feierstein (Shirley) of Troy; Julie Wright (Michael) of Springfield; Jane Koopman (Jeff) of Troy; and Brent Paulus (Joyce) of Springfield; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; brother, Vernon L. Feierstein of Jacksonville, FL; and stepsister, Margerie Almonrode of Saratoga, IN. Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Feierstein; the mother of his children, Sally Jason; son, Joel Paulus; brother, Harold "Gene" Feierstein; and stepsister, Mildred Labig.
Dick attended Troy High School where he proudly played for the 1946 MVL Champion football team and graduated in 1948. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska during his service until he transitioned back to civilian life. Dick spent the next 33 years working for the United States Postal Service back in Troy, Ohio, followed by 17 years with Edgar H. Smith & Son Florist in Troy. He was on a bowling team where he earned the name "Fireball". He was a regular at Lincoln Square and enjoyed watching the next 3 generations of his family grow. Dick was past Commander of American Legion Post #43. Dick was a man of great faith and was active member of Troy Church of The Brethren and a servant of the Troy community as a member of the Troy Lions Club.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Baird Funeral Home in Troy. Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM with Pastor Jon Keller officiating, followed by military honors. Private interment will take place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at a later date.
