George W. Mikels Sr. George W. Mikels Sr., 91, of Troy, Ohio, passed away at 6:35AM on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio. He was born on August 29, 1916, in Troy, Ohio, to the late James and Cora Robbins Mikels. He was married to Ruby Hawkins Mikels on July 27, 1944. In addition to his wife, Ruby, Mr. Mikels is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Mary and David Benedict of Troy and Kay and Mike Brokschmidt of Tipp City, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law: George W. Jr. and Janie Mikels of Casstown, Ohio; sister, Louise Hess of Troy; three granddaughters: Marlane and Joel Webb, Lynne and Dan Zimmerman and Laura and Kevin Daniel; one grandson, M. Charles and Danelle Brokschmidt; and seven great-grandchildren: Kayla and Alayna Webb; Allison, Nicole, Kaylena, and Blaine Brokschmidt, and Lily Zimmerman. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mikels was preceded in death by one sister, Emma Smith, and five brothers: Ralph, Roy, James and John Mikels and Robert Bell. He was a 1935 graduate of Troy High School. Mr. Mikels was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Troy; Franklin Lodge #14 F&AM Troy Senior Citizens; and Troy Fish & Game Club. He retired from Hobart Manufacturing Company after 41 years of service. Services will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, April 12, 2008, at the Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with Rev. Al Bastin officiating.
