George R. Downs, 67, of Kenton, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on December 20, 1941 to the late Thomas and Elsie Smith Downs. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mechel and David Rowe of Alger, Ohio; sister, Linda Beck of Laura, Ohio; brothers, James "Jimmy" Downs, Thomas Frankie Downs, and George Junie Maggart, all of Ft. Worth, TX; and grandchildren, Shelby and Dustin Rowe. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carol Moore. He attended the Columbus School for the Deaf and the Texas School for the Deaf in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a member of the Ginghamsburg United Methodist Church. He was formerly employed with Rahn Granite Surface Plate Co. of West Milton, Ohio, RT Industries of Troy, Ohio, and Harco Industries of Kenton, Ohio.
