GENE W. STONER, age 84, of Troy passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 at his residence. He was born on December 31, 1933 in Concord, OH to the late Walter Henry and Myrtle Marie (Richardson) Stoner. His wife of 47 years: Janice L. (Wright) Stoner preceded him in death on December 4, 2000.
Gene is survived by daughters and sons-in-law: Victoria and Gary Neff of Urbana; Tanna Zank of Troy and Bonnie and Ronnie Sutherland of Hornlake, MS; son and daughter-in-law: Tod and Stephanie Stoner of Pleasant Hill; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife, Gene was preceded in death by one sister and one great grandchild.
Gene served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He attended Victory Church in Tipp City. He loved model airplanes and trains and target shooting. Gene also loved animals especially his little dog, "Chip".
A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00PM on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy with the Rev. John Shelton officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4:00-6:00PM on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Preble County Humane Society, 951 S. Barron Street, Eaton, OH 45320 or Victory Church, 4645 South County Road 25A, Tipp City, OH 45371.
