IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gary C.
Wilber
October 19, 1951 – May 28, 2025
Dr. Gary C. Wilber, Age 73, of Troy, OH, passed away on May 28, 2025. He was born on October 19th, 1951, in Flint, MI, to Gertrude (German) Wilber of Deland, FL, and the late John "Jack" Wilber.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of almost 52 years: Carla (Painter) Wilber; three children: Jennifer (Mathew) Klint, Emily (Dave Rodehaver) Wilber, and Abigail (Scott) Smith all of Troy; four grandchildren: Maddison Klint, Alexander Klint, Benjamin Klint, and Elijah Smith; two brothers: Robert (Marilyn) Wilber of Deland, FL and James Wilber of Bloomington, IL. He was preceded in death by his father and his sister, Marianne Jackson.
Gary was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, leaving behind a legacy marked by faith, humility, and selfless love.
Gary loved Jesus with all his heart, and that love shaped every part of his life. He walked closely with the Lord, not out of a sense of confidence in his own abilities, but with a humble trust that God would use him, even when he didn't feel equipped. His faith was quiet, steady, and real. He followed Jesus not only in words but in the way he lived, serving, giving, and putting others before himself.
Gary loved spending time with his family, and his family loved being with him. Whether it was around the dinner table, out on the water, or gathered in the sunshine, time with Gary was marked by laughter, warmth, and a deep sense of being known and loved.
At home and at work, Gary was a servant. He was always giving of himself to care for others. He didn't seek recognition or reward—he simply saw needs and met them, quietly and generously.
In 1980, Gary followed God's call to begin Troy Christian Schools. Over the past 45 years, he faithfully served the Lord and generations of TC families with vision, humility, and a servant's heart. He had a dream for a performing arts center in Troy and he was able to see that dream come to fruition. What God has accomplished through Gary's life and leadership is astonishing and will continue to impact lives for generations to come.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He ran his race with endurance, and he has now heard the words he longed for: "Well done, good and faithful servant."
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Troy Christian Schools for the Dr. Gary Wilber Scholarship fund.
