Gary D. Harshbarger, age 76, of Troy, OH passed away on July 2, 2021 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton.  He was born on August 24, 1944 in Troy to the late Marvin and Lois K. (Flory) Harshbarger.

Gary is survived by his life partner of 21 years: Joan Canan of Troy; sisters and brothers-in-law: Linda and Doug Bindrim of Laconia, NH and Karen and Scott Boehringer of Troy; nephew: Brad Boehringer of Troy; Joan's children: Lisa (Canan) and Tim Skelly of Greenville; Amy (Canan) and Eddie Phillips of Galena and Susan (Canan) and Bryce Thorne of Gray Court, SC; and grandchildren and one great grandchild who called him Papa "D".

Gary was a 1962 graduate of Troy High School and a 1968 graduate of University of Tennessee at Martin.  He was a lifetime member of the Troy Elks Lodge for 53 years.  Gary was a teacher and girls basketball coach at the junior high school in Arcanum for 13 years.  He retired from American Honda Motor Company of Troy in 2009.

Gary loved golf and also the Ohio State Buckeyes.  Even more important to him was his dogs and his family.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00PM on July 17, 2021 at Baird Funeral Home in Troy.  An Elks Lodge of Sorrow Service and a time of sharing will follow at 5:00PM at the funeral home.  Private interment will take place in Sugar Grove Cemetery in Covington.
